Kauai is a wonderful place to venture. Known as the "Garden Isle," Kauai is
considered the jewel of the sea. Historically, Kauai is the premier island, it
was the first island to be created and the first to be explored and discovered.
THINGS TO DO
While in Kauai, one can find everything from adventuring to relaxation. Some
interesting spots to visit are:
Kauai Museum 245-6931 This is a great place to learn about the culture and
history of the island. The museum features Hawaiian heritage, displaying quilts,
feather lies, and more!
Grove Farm Homestead 245-3202 This is almost just like an outdoor museum of
a 1864 plantation founded by the son of missionaries. Surrounding the buildings
of the plantation are banana patches, grape arbors, gardens and pastures. Two
hour, guided tours are available by reservation.
Huleia National Wildlife Refuge This refuge stretches 238 acres in the
Huliea Valley. Here you can find 31 different bird species including 4 different
types of endangered waterbirds.FIND A HIDDEN BEACH
Along Kauai's shore are a series of hidden beaches. Locals are generally the
only people who know of these secrets. It often requires a long hike down, but
once reached these beaches are sometimes lacking a foot print. Perfect for a

Kauai is a great place to do some sailing! Because of the trade winds, Kauai
waters always offer excellent sailing. Or if its relaxation you crave, take a
cruise. Many of the cruises stop at beaches and stop for some excellent

Ma's Family 245-3142 This is a local stop for the islanders on their way to
the cane fields in the morning. This is a great stop for a bargain breakfast or
lunch. Closed for dinner.
Kauai Chop Suey 245-4422 Known for it's "Slavic Steak". A wonderful
tenderloin that is broiled, sliced, and basted with a wine, butter, and garlic
sauce. This is a great place to take the family.
Taisho Restaurant 742-1838 This is a cozy little Kauai restaurant with a
traditional Japanese menu
